I've been really quiet lately!
and now I am posting to say I WILL BE EVEN QUIETER. I am going on an airplane. Tomorrow. To Paris. France. With the Eiffel Tower. And Musée D’Orsay And bread and cheese and wine. This likely means not so much for the time to read the news and post stuff and be opinionated and awesome and all that. Please don’t leave me. I’ll be back. <3 Mei
I always lose the most followers when I go quiet
I feel like I should put like a disclaimer or something. ”Posts when politics and circumstances permit.” It’ll be an experiment when I go on vacation for two weeks (7 more days!!!) (not that I’m counting). Just how many followers will I lose?! I kind of want to write a post but I am too damn tired to be intelligent. If I wrote it now, it would go something like:...
Ontario trans rights decision makes Canadian... →
bdoing: In what a London lawyer is calling a “game changing decision,” the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal has struck down a rule that required trans people to undergo “transexual surgery” in order to change the sex category on their birth certificate. As a result of the decision, Ontario now has 180 days to revise the criteria for sex designation change. The government must now present “some...
It’s impressive that I can tell when [the team] has scored a goal in the play offs not because I am WATCHING THE GAME BECAUSE I CARE (sorry, I don’t really!), but because I CAN HEAR CHEERING. Both INSIDE MY BUILDING AND OUT. Every playoff season, I get || this close to moving, I swear.

jakke: Hey, look, another thing the government scrapped that isn’t the penny but is way more important: a program that set up three four-month internships for new high school grads in three different provinces and arranged for them all to live together in each city. It did all the right things for new grads: gave them a chance to learn both English and French (because language education in...

Wild Party's idea of "conscience rights" is... →
Alberta’s Wildrose Party says it would implement a law to protect the “conscience rights” of health professionals, apparently to include marriage commissioners, who would not have to solemnize marriages involving gay or lesbian couples. It is unclear in what ways health professionals are being denied freedom of conscience at the moment. Are doctors being required to perform abortions against...

Okay, I have two very important questions
1. Who is that marathon guy in this random adoring meme going around? 2. WTF is yolo?
School Cancels Dress-Up Day Over Gender Fears
neuroticnewsjunkie: A public elementary school in King City, Ontario has cancelled “opposite gender day” over concerns that it would result in gender identity issues or turn the students gay. The day was proposed by the elementary school’s student council as a fun idea where kids could dress up as the opposite gender, if they wanted to. Weighing the factors in buying a warplane. →
This is one of those articles that’s difficult to provide a meaningful quote because there is so much information in it. I think the fact I disagree with the purchase of the F-35s (because I think the price quoted by our government is wrong, because I don’t know that we are getting a useful product, because I am not comfortable that this should be a priority) has been made pretty...
